CFPB Report On College Credit Cards Highlights Importance Of Consumer Education

When it wasn't clear what they were signing up for, many college students went through the process of getting a credit card. Furthermore, those credit cards were issued in the context of agreements between credit card companies and colleges.

Oftentimes, those students signed up largely due to a lack of information and eventually found themselves in trouble with credit card debt as a result. With new rules in place to address that problem, college students are offered different options and therefore have fewer credit cards.

It is usually a list, and it is usually presented as a survival guide of sorts that tells consumers how to avoid getting bullied, harassed, tricked, and other nasty verbs that get linked to collectors. While having consumers remain informed about their rights and about the process is crucial, to do so with blanket assumptions about all collectors continues to hinder the conversation.

Los Angeles Lakers Sued For Alleged TCPA Violations

The Los Angeles Lakers offered fans a chance to have an interactive experience while attending games at the Staples Center. Like so many professional sports teams nationwide, the Lakers offered fans the opportunity to send a text message to get involved with an in-game promotion. In this case, the Lakers' production team offered to have fans' text messages displayed on the "jumbotron."

TAG President Mark Neeb Named On "Who's Who In Collections" List

The Affiliated Group is proud to announce that our own President and CEO Mark Neeb has been named one of the people on the list of "Who's Who" in Collections for the year 2014. This year's group was announced earlier this month by Collection Advisor.

Debt Collections Trends: FDCPA, TCPA Lawsuits On The Rise

The September debt collections data is in, and in an entirely unsurprising development, FDCPA and TCPA lawsuits are on the rise.

The biggest takeaway from this data is the continued need to address, update, and reform the outdated law that is the TCPA.
